TRUSTED ADVISOR TO THE

DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE, TRANSFORMATION, AND SERVICES SECTORS

 ABOUT US

We have been at the forefront of digital transformation from its early days. We remember when “cloud” meant subscribing to a shared web-hosting service or renting a dedicated server. Those services still provide great value, especially to small- and medium-sized business (SMB) customers focused on running their day-to-day business. Early hosting businesses have evolved to offer easy to use website builders with beautiful templates that rival the most sophisticated websites from 20 years ago fully integrated with other business tools such as payment fulfillment, search optimization (SEO), local management, and directory integration. The digital transformation sector has come a long way since then and has become an essential partner to even the largest of Fortune 500 enterprises.

As digital infrastructure has advanced, companies have accelerated their moves to the cloud. This has been a game changer. More and more, companies are now able to scale their technology operations quickly and efficiently, and done correctly, their technology has become a competitive advantage. The ability to quickly develop modifications to a customer-facing application using microservices, using cloud native tools to secure the environment, and using templates and landing zones to accelerate production are just some of the advantages in the digital transformation evolution. Today, the early promise of cost optimization and capex avoidance is just a tip of the iceberg on why enterprises invest millions on their digital journey.

More than 175 zettabytes of data will be created, captured, copied, and consumed in the world by 2025, according to IDC. Companies are always creating data, but they do not always have the means to properly capture and analyze it. A major promise of the Cloud has been its potential to allow companies to aggregate their data and lift it out of its “silos.”

When we started Layer 7, we quickly made a reputation as an investment bank covering the migration of enterprises to the cloud, whether it was for a DevOps firm refactoring applications for enterprises on Amazon Web Services; a firm spinning up virtual “workspaces” for enterprises and for a firm implementing Salesforce ecommerce solutions for enterprises.

The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model talks about the seven different layers that computer systems use to communicate over a network. We do not forget our roots as bankers who got their Technology Media and Telecom (TMT) start covering the “physical layer” of data centers and fiber networks. We named our firm Layer 7 to signify where humans and computers interact.   Businesses will need to be architected in a way that integrates their core operation with software, data and AI.

Technology continues to change rapidly. What has not changed is how we enjoy working with founders and entrepreneurs who are looking to grow their companies. We welcome the opportunity to establish new relationships. Looking forward to hearing from you.
